I was expecting the new Twilight movie to be pretty bad, considering the first three were not that fantastic, but Breaking Dawn was more awful than even I could have predicted. I was not a huge fan of the first movie, but the second and third just seemed to be getting a little better each time. I was, therefore, hoping that this four installment would be even better than the first three. Boy, was I wrong.

This fourth movie picks up the day before Edward and Bella's wedding. We see the ceremony and the reception before they head to Buenos Aires and then a private island for their honeymoon. Bella becomes unexpectedly pregnant but with what, no one can say for certain. The vampires are afriad that the baby is killing Bella from the inside and the wolves are afraid of the unknown creature she is carrying. Jacob must decide whether to side with his pack or side with the vampires and protect Bella's life.

The acting was about the same as usual. No vast improvements in anyone's performances, but nothing too horrible either. I would also say that the dialogue was exactly what you would expect from the first three movies, except that it was a little funnier. It has been a while since I watched them, but I do not really remember the first three movies having very many funny moments. However, Breaking Dawn included a few good lines from Charlie, Jacob and Emmett.

And now on to my major complaints.....

Most of the things that annoyed me from the first three movies were not fixed in this one either. The issues mainly being that the dialogue is not well written and the scenes are too choppy. However, there were a few extra things in this installment that just really irked me.

I realize that wolves talking to each other telepathically and imprinting is a hard thing to portray in a movie, but both scenes were just so poorly done. I could not help but roll my eyes and I had to try very hard to keep myself from laughing out loud in the theater. I am not sure how you would go about making these scenes better, but then again, that is not my job. They were just trying too hard to make these moments so serious that it had the opposite effect for me and they became corny.

Another big issue that I had was that the use of the music was way overused. It got to the point where there was a song or the score playing for so much of the movie that in scenes were there was no music, it felt eerily quiet and awkward. Music should be used to enhance a few specific scenes, not play throughout the entire movie and distract you from the actors' performances. I have no problem with the specific song choices, just their placement and volume throughout the film. This is not something I had noticed in previous movies.

I was just so disappointed by this movie. Like I said, I did not expect it to be anything fantastic, but I did hope to at least enjoy it. Unless you have a really strong desire to see this right now, I would definitely tell you to just skip it and wait for it to come out on DVD. It is not worth the money to see it in the theater.
