Holmes: Get that out of my face.

Watson: It's not in your face. It's in my hand.
Holmes: Get what's in your hand out of my face.

The big movies in theaters this weekend are: Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked and Young Adult.

Only in limited release last week, Young Adult is from the same writer who brought us Juno and stars Charlize Theron. She is the writer of  young adult novels who decides to return to her hometown after her marriage fails. Her plan is to take back her high school boyfriend. When that plan proves more difficult than she thought, she forms an unlikely bond with another former classmate. Along with Theron, this movies also features Patton Oswalt, Patrick Wilson, Elizabeth Reaser and Jill Eikenberry.

In Chip-Wrecked, the Chipmunks and the Chipettes go on a cruise along with Dave.  While fooling around onboard, the end up going overboard and find themselves stranded on a desert island. Now they must figure out a way to get back to their ship. This movie stars Jason Lee, David Cross and the voices of Justin Long, Jesse McCartney, Matthew Gray Gubler, Amy Poehler, Anna Farris Christina Applegate and Alan Tudyk.

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol is the fourth movie in this franchise. When the IMF is implicated in a global terrorist to bomb the Kremlin, they are shut down and must find a way to clear their name. "Ghost Protocal" is intiated which means the team must go rogue without any help or contact in order to find out who is really behind the bombing. This movie stars Tom Cruise, Paula Patton, Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner, Josh Holloway and Tom Wilkinson.

Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law are back as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson in A Game of Shadows. When the Crown Prince of Austria is found dead, it is presumed to be suicide. However, Holmes is sure that he was murdered and that this murder is only one piece to a puzzle being designed by Professor James Moriarty. Moriarty is Holmes' toughest adversary and he must join with Watson once again to try and bring him down before he changes the course of history forever. Along with Downey Jr and Law, this movie also stars Noomi Rapace, Rachel McAdams, Stephen Fry and Jared Harris.

Aside from Alvin and the Chipmunks, everything out this weekend has gotten decent reviews, with Mission: Impossible currently on top. I never saw the second or third M:I films and will probably not be seeing this fourth one in the theater. However, I do plan to see Sherlock Holmes and Young Adult at some point.
In limited release this weekend is: Carnage, Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel and Cook County.
