"Remember, your enemy is not gonna play fair."

The two big movies coming out this weekend are Green Lantern and Mr. Popper's Penguins.

Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, Tim Robbins and the voices of Michael Clarke Duncan and Geoffrey Rush. Based on the DC Comic of the same name, it is about a test pilot who is given a mystical ring which gives him superpowers and makes him part of the brotherhood of Green Lanterns. These warriors are protectors of peace and justice for the entire Universe. Reynolds' Hal Jordan is the first human to ever possess the ring and he must help the Green Lanterns save Earth from a new threat in the Universe.

This has not been getting great reviews and is currently at only 24% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, I really enjoy Ryan Reynolds so I will probably check it out anyway, just maybe not opening weekend.

Also based on a book, Mr. Popper's Penguins is about a man who inherits six penguins from his father. The penguins help him reasses his priorities in life and to care less about his job and more about his family. Popper is played by Jim Carrey who stars alongside Carla Gugino, Angela Lansbury, Clark Gregg, Jeffrey Tambor, David Krumholtz, Philip Baker Hall and James Tupper.

This is getting better reviews than Green Lantern, but is still mediocre, at best. Although, if you enjoy Jim Carrey, my guess is you will probably enjoy this movie.

In limited release this weekend is: The Art of Getting By; and documentaries: Buck and Page One: Inside the New York Times.

What movies are you planning to see this weekend?! Let me know in the comments!
